Automated AI & Asset
Provenance Validator
Ship confidently. Stay listed. OriginGuard tracks the provenance of every AI asset in your game and generates the disclosures required by Steam and the EU AI Act — at build time, with zero manual paperwork.
# 1. Get your Machine ID before purchasing
originguard machine-id
# 2. Validate all assets
originguard scan ./Assets
# 3. Generate your compliance report
originguard report ./Assets
Two regulations. Zero grace period.
Both regulations are already in force. Non-compliance risks store-page rejection, forced corrections, or regulatory fines.
Steam Generative AI Policy
Valve has required games using AI-generated content to disclose it on the store page since January 2024, distinguishing pre-generated from live-generated assets — and narrowed and sharpened the policy in January 2026. Manual disclosure is error-prone and incomplete.
EU AI Act — Article 50
Specific AI systems — generative and synthetic-content tools among them — trigger transparency duties when placed on the EU market or used by EU users. For studios, that's mainly a deepfake-disclosure duty, and it applies in full to marketing material and store pages. There is no off-the-shelf solution for indie studios.
Everything you need. Nothing you don't.
One tool, four capabilities, full compliance coverage.
Provenance Tracking
Every asset in your /Assets directory gets a SHA-256 tamper-evident sidecar record, self-attested at the moment of export — the only moment tagging is guaranteed accurate — and verified again at build time.
- SHA-256 hash verification
- Artist-captured at point of export
- Tamper-evident sidecar files
Automated Disclosure
One command produces a Master_Disclosure.json containing all three outputs required for store submission and regulatory audit.
- Steam copy-paste disclosure language
- EU Article 50 machine-readable inventory
- Full SHA-256 integrity audit log
Build Gate Integration
A GitHub Actions workflow blocks any Pull Request that introduces an untagged or tampered asset. Non-compliant assets cannot reach production.
- Blocks PRs with missing tags
- Flags tampered or modified assets
- 90-day CI artifact retention
VS Code Extension
Artists tag assets without leaving their editor. A context-menu workflow captures provenance, tool name, and category at export time — no manual spreadsheets.
- Right-click to tag any asset
- Captures AI tool name and category
- Works on Windows, macOS, Linux
